The Business Meeting Session was held at the Alki Masonic Temple in Seattle, WA and called to order at 9:30 am by PNTC President Steve Crow.
Steve Crow................... Acting PNTC President
(open position)............. PNTC Washington Vice President
Jerry Lane..................... PNTC Oregon Vice President
Conrad Berthold........... PNTC Treasurer
Walt White................... PNTC Washington Secretary
(open position)............. PNTC Oregon Secretary
Annamarie Schmidt..... Scholarship Chairperson
Jim Gillis...................... Bylaws & Policy Process Revision Chairperson
Steve Crow mentioned to the attendees that he is no longer the PNTC Washington Vise President. He is now the PNTC President until our next Officers Election, and the Washington VP position is now open.
Annamarie Schmidt was asked to share an exciting update about the Scholarship Project. It was announced that PNTC received an anonymous donation of $10,000 for the scholarship fund and this is the second year in a row for this donation. We have about $27,000 in the Scholarship Fund.
Conrad provided a verbal report of the PNTC Treasury details. Please see the PNTC Newsletter for the detailed report.
We need volunteers for Washington Vice President, Oregon Secretary and Oregon Director-at-large. If you are interested in any of these openings please contact Steve Crow.
We are still collecting suggestions for a “Welcome Letter” and volunteers for this project. If you would like to help, or if you have a suggestion, please contact either Steve, Jerry, Conrad, Walt or Jim.
There were several questions and concerns about not having a current PNTC Roster available for the membership. Conrad and Steve tried to answer these questions and concerns as best as possible. We really need volunteers that would form a “Roster Committee”. The Roster Committee could be responsible for tasks such as incorporation of updates, publication, mailing, distribution and addressing concerns. During this discussion it was mentioned that PNTC no longer

has a USPS Bulk Rate Shipping account. Therefore, it’s estimated that each copy of a paper roster would be over $1 for postage to individual addresses. More discussions to come on this topic during future meetings and once we have a Roster Committee.
Jim Gillis has done an outstanding job of re-writing, researching and updating our PNTC Bylaws. He has spent countless hours on the task of separating Bylaw items and forming our Policy Procedures and Practices (PPP). A motion was presented for approval of the new updated PNTC Bylaws and PPP.
This topic was opened for discussion and questions from all members prior to requesting written votes. We had several questions such as:
1. Section 5 about “Termination”, should there be a detailed list of reasons for termination? This was discussed and resolved during this meeting.
2. There was a concern about the Directors being transparent on issues and keeping the membership informed.
3. There’s no mention of “Rules of Sales” being enforced by the Sargent of Arms. It was also mentioned that “Rules of Sales” seem to not be equally enforced at our Oregon and Washington meetings.
4. There’s no mention of the Auction Coordinator recusing themselves for conflict of interest when an estate is being collected. The concern is, if the auction Coordinator has been invited to the estate as a representative of PNTC then that person should not be selecting items for their personal collection as the first priority, and after they have selected their items the remainder can be for the PNTC auction. This discussion created several inputs. A motion was made to make a new change to the Bylaws or PPP for this issue, or leave the documents as they are written for this update. The motion was seconded and followed by a Hand Raise Vote process. The voting results will be shared with the PNTC membership after the February meeting in Oregon.
After these discussions we proceeded into the voting process for the new updated Bylaws and PPP document. The votes were individually counted by Steve, Walt and Josh. The voting results will be shared with the PNTC membership after the February meeting in Oregon.
Chuck and Conrad shared some good memorable salutations for Dick Schusler. Chuck read Dick’s favorite poem written by Genevieve Baker “I’m Fine”.
We had 8 new members at the meeting today. The names are being added to the PNTC database by Conrad Berthold.

We still need a “Computer Helper” volunteer for Washington meetings. This volunteer position includes producing badges, operating the computer during the meetings, maintaining the PNTC Membership List. Your help is appreciated.
